Macromedia ColdFusion 5 UltraDev 4 Studio Now Available

by PRNewswire
Macromedia, Inc. today announced the release of Macromedia® ColdFusion® 5 UltraDev™ 4 Studio, which unites the code-editing strengths of ColdFusion Studio 5 with the leading visual authoring environment of UltraDev for developing dynamic Web applications. This new studio integrates the leading development environments for ColdFusion applications, providing developers with a productive toolset for creating, managing, debugging, and deploying powerful Web applications for ColdFusion Server 5. The studio offers solutions for remote development, project management, customization, and extensibility. Both ColdFusion Studio 5 and the ColdFusion 5 UltraDev 4 Studio are available for immediate download from the Macromedia Online Store.

ColdFusion Studio 5 is the latest version of the robust code-editing environment for creating Web applications using ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML). ColdFusion Studio 5 includes complete ColdFusion Server 5 support, simplified application deployment, enhanced custom tag creation, and improved workflow through integration with Macromedia Fireworks®. Macromedia Dreamweaver® UltraDev™ 4 builds on the core Dreamweaver architecture and enables developers to visually design Web applications using CFML, Active Server Pages (ASP), and JavaServer Pages (JSP).

ColdFusion Studio 5 has been improved to increase developer productivity through full support of new and updated ColdFusion Server 5 tags across all core editor features. A new custom tag wizard simplifies the creation of new tags, and new folder deployment settings simplify project deployment for users. A visual query builder enables users to create complex database queries through a drag-and-drop environment, and the interactive debugger isolates and helps correct code errors. The product is also tightly integrated with Macromedia Fireworks, allowing users to launch Fireworks from within ColdFusion Studio and effortlessly roundtrip graphics between both products.

ColdFusion Server 5 offers major enhancements in development, administration, and performance. A new integrated charting engine, advanced full text searching, and new language features enable faster development of business applications. Extensive new administrative tools reduce the time and costs for moving from development to production. ColdFusion Server 5 also delivers a significant performance increase -- running some applications as much as three times faster than ColdFusion 4.5.
